Hi, I'm Maria.

Absences can add up fast. Help parents stay on the ball by sending them an automated email when their kid reaches a certain threshold of tardies or absences.

Here's how:

Once you've gone through the process of setting up attendance letters, it's easy to use Automated Emails to provide an additional line of communication between home and school.

Get started in Student Management, Advanced Features, Automated Emails.

Find an existing Email template, or click Add to set up a new one.

Auto emails can be sent for many different types of events. For this example, select Attendance Letters and choose which event will trigger an email.

The Automated Event Status should be set as Active.

In Student Contacts, choose which people should receive the automatic email. For this example, we'll send emails to the student's first family members.

If you'd like any general staff or system contacts to receive an auto email as well, add them now.

Set the message priority and customize the Subject.

Edit the body of the email so it says just what you like, using the predefined fields to add student-relevant data into the email.

Preview and proofread the email, make any necessary adjustments, and click Save.

It's not hard to keep parents in the loop and help encourage better attendance.

Work smarter with Skyward's Automated Emails, and stay tuned for the next Quick Hits for Admin Assistants, coming soon.
