Visitor Management Made Easy

While positive thinking is often a beneficial approach, when it comes to school security, simply hoping for the best won’t cut it.

How secure are your school buildings? Sure, there may be locks on the front doors and even an intercom system equipped with video. But the question is, how well do you really know the visitors who sign in to your guest log and are granted access to your hallways, classrooms, and students?

Our longtime partners at School Technology Associates have been exclusively offering visitor management software for all Skyward customers since the spring of 2016.  Their visitor management system offers custom, comprehensive background screening integration and a quick, effective way to ramp up campus security. Let’s take a look at what this solution can do for you.

At a Glance

Districts enjoy the following features of the visitor management system:

Direct Skyward integration: School Technology Associates defined and developed an integration with Skyward, so you can use it to confirm guardian/emergency contact pickup rights and keep detailed records about each student’s release from school (who, when, where, time, location).

Automatic checks: As part of your visitor check-in process, the system will instantly perform a National Sex Offender Registry (NSOR) check, as well as a custom exclusion list check—a list your district can create to identify anyone not allowed on your campus.

Information at your fingertips: Emergency notifications ensure you’re never caught in the dark, while the mobile app gives you access to important security information whenever you need it.

Geofence check-in: Use GPS technology to create a virtual fence around your campus that helps identify when people enter or exit an area. Approved visitors crossing the geofence will trigger the “visitors nearby” log to display their information.

Wide variety of registration types: Register visitors using a wide variety of role options, from board member to contractor, parent volunteer to student teacher.

Pre-registration link: Email a pre-registration link to visitors before they arrive at your schools to speed up the process on site.

Direct Washington State Police WATCH integration: Available for Washington users, this direct integration makes it easy to check the state database when a visitor arrives.

Why it Matters

More than 175 schools within the Skyward family are already using this visitor management solution. Not only does it improve your building security, it will also save you all kinds of time when you need to sift through dozens, hundreds, or even thousands of volunteers throughout the district.
