Two Leading Florida School Districts Select Skyward School Management System
Skyward’s School Management System connects administrators, educators, and
families in two Florida county school systems
June 30, 2008
STEVENS POINT, WI June 30, 2008 – Skyward, the industry-leading K-12 school management system
announced today the selection of their solution by their first two customers in the state of Florida. St. Lucie
County Public Schools and Okeechobee County Schools of Florida will join over 1,200 school districts throughout
the world using Skyward as their administrative software provider.
The St. Lucie school district was looking for a new student management system to replace their outdated legacy
system. As part of their detailed software review process, St. Lucie visited current Skyward customers at the
Birdville School District in Texas and South Washington County in Minnesota as well as attending the Skyward
Texas User Group conference to gain a better understanding of Skyward administrative software. After an
extensive RFP (Request of Proposal) and detailed software presentation, St. Lucie School District selected
Skyward’s complete school management system for their student and financial needs.
St. Lucie serves grades preK-12 with an enrollment of 40,000 students attending 45 schools. St. Lucie strives to
create challenging, engaging and satisfying work for every student, every day. It is no wonder that the St. Lucie
School District was selected in the top 100 districts nationwide for the 2008 Broad Prize for Urban Education.
Skyward solutions will also be implemented in St. Lucie’s neighboring school district, Okeechobee County
Schools. The two schools have had a successful partnership for over 20 years using the same administrative
software.
Okeechobee County Schools’ provide a preK-12 education to over 7,000 students enrolled in the county’s 10
schools. The district’s number one priority is to increase and improve student achievement as well as prepare
students with both the academic and vocational skills needed for postsecondary pursuits.
Both school districts plan on implementing Skyward’s software in time for the 2009-2010 school years.
“Okeechobee and St. Lucie are very excited about implementing Skyward as their student and finance software.
They are looking forward to all of the new features they will get with Skyward, helping them meet and exceed their
needs in the future,” said Kevin McFerrin, Skyward Vice President of New Business.
Since 1980, Skyward has been serving the K-12 Administrative software needs of school districts. Today,
Skyward's School Management System™ is found in over 1,300 school districts throughout the United States and
internationally. Skyward’s School Management System represents an integrated student and financial management
