Skyward Named Wisconsin Family Business of the Year

Stevens Point based company recognized for contributions to state and community along with ongoing business success

May 8, 2008

STEVENS POINT, WI – May 8, 2008 -- Skyward, a Stevens Point based provider of K-12 school administrative software, was awarded the 2008 Wisconsin Family Business of the Year Award for a large company (100 or more employees). The award ceremony was held on Thursday, May 1, 2008 at the Marriott West in Middleton, WI.

The Wisconsin Family Business of the Year award is presented annually to family businesses whose accomplishments and contributions impact the Wisconsin business community. To be selected for the Wisconsin Family Business of the Year award, a company must demonstrate an ongoing contribution to their community and industry, have a positive link between family and business, and use innovative practices in their business.

Skyward emulates these qualities by supporting the Stevens Point community with charitable giving as well as with a goal to ‘Buy Wisconsin’ through purchasing from local and state businesses. University of Wisconsin- Stevens Point and Mid-State Technical college graduates make up 35% of Skyward’s workforce of over 300 employees.

“Skyward is honored to receive the 2008 Wisconsin Family Business of the Year award. We are thrilled to be recognized for our dedication to the community and our business success,” said Scott Glinski, President of Skyward.

Skyward strives to uphold a high ideal of corporate citizenship. The commitment to Stevens Point was exemplified by Skyward choosing to reinvest in the community by opening a second office in the city. Company growth had quickly maximized space created by an addition in 2004 at the company’s Coye Drive facility. The decision to remain in Stevens Point was made without hesitation and Skyward chose to renovate the old Qualex building on Industrial Park Drive and move their Customer Services, Accounting and Human Resources Department to this facility.

Winners of the 2008 Wisconsin Family Business of the Year Award for medium and small company went to K-Tech Kleening Systems of Weston and Drake & Company of Madison. The award ceremony was sponsored by the law firm of DeWitt Ross & Stevens, Associated Bank, and the accounting firm Smith & Gesteland.
