Skyward to be Presented with ESGR Patriot Award
Award credits businesses for outstanding support of employees in the National Guard and Reserve.
February 24, 2009
STEVENS POINT, WI – Skyward, Inc., a Stevens Point based provider of industry leading K-12 administrative
software, will be awarded the Patriot Award by the National Committee for Employer Support of the Guard and
Reserve (ESGR) on Friday, February 27, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at their corporate headquarters at 5233 Coye Drive,
Stevens Point, Wisconsin.
The Patriot Award is designed to recognize employers who support employees in the National Guard and
Reserve force. Employers qualify for recognition when they practice leadership and personnel policies that
support employee participation in the Guard and Reserve. Skyward was selected in part due to company
policies that include: Publishing a military leave policy in the employee handbook, continuing employees’ salary
during periods of military mobilization, and providing a hiring policy which is clearly favorable to applicants with
current or past military service. Skyward was nominated for the Patriot Award by a Skyward employee who is in
the military.
“We are honored to be recognized by the ESGR with the Patriot Award,” said Cliff King, Skyward CEO. “At
Skyward, we will continue to support our men and women in the military and their families, by providing a working
environment that provides those employees who are in the Guard or Reserves the opportunity to serve our
country.”
By receiving the Patriot Award, Skyward is also eligible for consideration for higher levels of recognition at local,
state and national levels. Other awards Skyward is now eligible for include: The “Above and Beyond” award, the
“Pro Patria” award, and the “Employer Support Freedom” award.
The ESGR was established in 1972 as a staff organization within the United States Department of Defense which
serves to develop and promote a culture in which all American employers support and value the military service of
their employees. ESGR encourages and assists employee participation in the National Guard and Reserve
training programs without civilian job impediments, and develops and maintains positive working relationships
between civilian employers and the military to sustain National Guard and Reserve component participation.
Today ESGR operates through a network of more than 4,500 volunteers throughout 56 committees located in
each state, the District of Columbia, Guam, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands and Europe.
