Taylorville elementary schools use new plan for payments of meals
August 7, 2008
Beginning later this month, elementary schools in the Taylorville school district will use the
Skyward Point Of Sale (POS) system instead of purchasing daily meal tickets.
Students at Taylorville junior high school have been successfully using the system for several
years, and now the elementary schools will use the same procedure.
The following things will be different this school year:
- Students will no longer need to keep track of meal tickets.
- Money is deposited “on account” and acts like a debit card account. When purchases
are made the balance is reduced by the purchase amount.
- Each student has his or her own lunch account.
- Families may monitor their children’s account balances and purchases through the
Family Access link on the district website, www.taylorvilleschools.com. Families who
do not have Internet access may contact the school office to verify their children’s
account balances.
The following procedures will stay the same this school year:
- Payments will be taken at each building during breakfast time. Parents should send
their child’s funds in a sealed envelope with the child’s name written on the envelope.
Families with more than one child in the same school may combine their payment and
list each child’s name on the envelope. Payments to different schools may not be
combined.
- There will still be a negative $5.00 charge limit. Any student whose account exceeds
the charge limit will be offered an alternative peanut butter and jelly lunch only until the
lunch account is replenished.
Parents who have questions may contact their building principal or call Karl Perkins, ARAMARK
Foodservice Manager, at 824-2841.
