Skyward Rolls Out Centralized Dashboard Application
July 14, 2009
Skyward, a provider of administrative software and IT consulting services to K-12 school
districts in the United States and around the world, announced last week the availability
of Skyport, a new Web portal that is capable of enabling secure access to all Skyward
applications through a centralized portal.
The newly launched Skyport is designed to work as a dashboard view for all users within
the district. Administrators, principals, teachers, support staff, parents and students can
access Skyport from the district's calendar by using their own secure login and
password. Once logged on, users can customize and arrange the dashboard to meet
their specific needs.
The company said that the idea of creating Skyport originated from a customer at the
2008 Skyward International Conference who described a screen in which they could, at-a
-glance see all of the applications their district owned within Skyward.
The Skyport centralized portal allows districts to maintain one link to Skyward
applications. Users will now be directed to one URL to access all of their Skyward
applications whether they are an administrator, teacher, parent or a combination of
multiple roles, all of their information will be available from one screen.
"By using Skyport, users will have the power to customize the software they use on a
daily basis, so that they may continue to make decisions about student performance
based on quick and easy access to data," said Scott Glinski, president at Skyward, in a
statement.
Since its inception in 1980, Skyward has been serving the K-12 administrative software
needs of school districts. The company’s School Management Systems are reportedly
used in more than 1,300 school districts throughout the U.S. and internationally.
Skyward's School Management System represents an integrated student and financial
management software system designed to keep administrators, educators, and families
connected.
Reportedly, the newly launched Skyport will be available this fall as a standard option in
the Skyward Student Management Suite. There is no additional cost for current Skyward
customers to implement Skyport, the company said.
