CISD opens Web portal

Corsicana ISD is adding another communication tool to help parents learn more about the educational resources of the district.

During the fall of 2007, Corsicana ISD implemented a new web-based service that allows parents, guardians and authorized family members to view attendance records, schedules, food service balances, discipline issues, grades, assignments and progress reports with a simple “point and click.”

Bowie Elementary served as a pilot campus for the district since the end of October.

With secure logins and passwords, a family’s privacy is never an issue. With Family Access, CISD gives the families the power of information. CISD helps parents participate in the education process and works to eliminate surprises at parent/teacher conferences and report card time.

When parents and teachers get together with up-to-date information, they can better plan for the student’s educational future.

“Connecting the classroom to the community gives everyone an advantage,” said CISD Superintendent Don Denbow. “Parents benefit from better educated students, teachers benefit from having concise documentation and performance records, but mostly the students benefit. This is a new and vital form of communication for our parents, teachers and students.”

To access this new service, parents/guardians must use a computer that has Internet access and is running the newest version of Internet Explorer or Netscape. Parents who do not have Internet access will have the ability to gain access to the Parent Portal through a designated computer(s) on each campus.

Jan. 3, 7 p.m. — Fannin Elementary
Jan. 8, 6:30 p.m. — Carroll Elementary
Jan. 10, 7 p.m. — Navarro Elementary
Jan. 14, 5:30 p.m. — Collins Middle School
Jan. 14, 6:30 p.m. — Corsicana High School
Jan. 15, 6:30 p.m. — Sam Houston Elementary
Jan. 17, 6 p.m. — Drane Intermediate
Jan. 22, 7:30 p.m. — Lee School of Choice
